About the position

The Senior Director of Actuarial Services is responsible for leading a team of actuaries to provide strategic pricing direction and thought leadership for Prime's clients across various business lines. This role involves overseeing the rebate and trend projection processes, collaborating with finance and functional departments on pricing strategies, and facilitating the development of Prime's Financial Value Statement.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of actuaries to provide strategic pricing advice on structures and methodology using market research, financial projections, and complex actuarial modeling
  • Collaborates with underwriters, client engagement, and senior management on RFP process and other pricing initiatives related to all lines of business
  • Engages with functional leadership to develop and maintain projected trend assumptions related to utilization, unit cost, and gross/net rebate assumptions
  • Owns the annual client administrative pricing assumptions and model (owner pricing model)
  • Leads negotiations and presentations and translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Manage department budget, staffing, performance and development, and consistently demonstrate Prime's leadership expectations during interactions with direct reports, cross functional and external stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, or related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience; HS diploma or GED is required
  • ASA or FSA designation
  • 10 years of actuarial work experience at a health plan or PBM
  • 7 years of leadership experience
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship
  • Excellent quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously without compromising quality
  • Strong client consulting presence; ability to distill complex material into easy to understand presentations, effectively respond to questions and engage a variety of audiences
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders across the organization

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or credentialed equivalent
  • Experience in identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex pharmacy benefit challenges
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy plan design
