The Sr. Director of AI Engineering at Capital One is responsible for leading the development and deployment of AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions and improve operational efficiency. The position is pivotal in shaping the technical vision and roadmap for foundational AI systems, ensuring that Capital One remains at the forefront of AI technology in the banking industry.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions.
• Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across a broad stack of AI technologies.
• Invent and introduce optimization techniques for large-scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.
• Attract and retain top talent in the AI industry and nurture team development.
• Foster a culture of learning and staying abreast of the latest AI advancements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 10 years of experience in AI and ML technologies, or a Master's degree plus at least 8 years of experience.
• At least 5 years of people leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 7 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team.
• 8 years of experience deploying scalable AI solutions on cloud platforms.
• Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
