About the position

The Sr. Director of Army Programs at SMX is responsible for leading growth, business development, and delivery within the Army Programs sector. This role focuses on strategic planning and operational execution to achieve performance targets and drive business growth, particularly in the defense market. The Sr. Director will oversee program management, engineering, and technology services, ensuring alignment with the organization's vision and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the identification, capture, and development of bid strategy and win profitable business opportunities with Army customers.
  • Collaborate with Division and Group leadership and corporate executive teams to drive growth and build relationships.
  • Manage client-focused teams to ensure predictable and repeatable frameworks that meet delivery commitments.
  • Drive high performance standards and develop talent within the organization.
  • Foster a culture of ethics, integrity, and respect while mentoring staff for mission success.
  • Implement succession planning for long-term leadership and competency.

Requirements

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • Bachelor's in technical or business-related field; advanced degree is desirable.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in government services organization, with at least ten (10) years of management experience in a DoD environment.
  • Extensive experience developing and selling services to Federal Government organizations with a proven track record of business growth.
  • Solid financial operations P&L background, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for a $25M-50M line of business.
  • Significant experience with clients on Redstone Arsenal (Army, NASA, FBI).
  • Proven success in hiring and developing high-performing teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Army MACs and GWACs (Express/RS3/Alliant 2, etc) is desirable.
