About the position

The Sr. Director, Custom Thermal will lead the offering and product development of Vertiv's direct Custom Thermal Business. This role is pivotal within the Thermal line of business senior leadership team, responsible for developing and executing the overall Thermal business strategy while driving the custom thermal business strategy and execution on a global scale. The position will have high visibility and will serve as a key interface with regional teams to drive product strategy and roadmap for the custom thermal business globally. The role is based onsite at either the Minneapolis, MN (Excelsior, MN) or Westerville, OH location. In this capacity, the Sr. Director will develop and execute the custom thermal strategy and business plan in collaboration with regional teams. This includes managing the OPEX and CAPEX budget for the custom thermal Center of Excellence (COE) team and working with product and regional teams to create a three-year revenue plan. The role requires conducting quarterly regional interlocks to ensure alignment on priorities, resource needs, product launches, and software business performance. Additionally, the Sr. Director will develop and manage sales enablement tools to support product performance selection and configuration. The individual will own the custom thermal business market messaging globally, ensuring consistency across regions while tailoring messages to meet specific end-market and regional needs. Timely execution of new capabilities and customer projects within budget and product cost targets is essential. The role also involves understanding competition and differentiation of Vertiv Solutions, developing tools for sales to effectively compete in the market, and analyzing the overall custom thermal market size globally to identify growth opportunities. The Sr. Director will collect inputs from regional teams regarding market trends, opportunities, and customer needs, which will inform the overall roadmap and product requirements. Investigating and recommending new technologies or market opportunities will be part of the role, serving as a product visionary to drive innovative products and strategies. The individual will also ensure that product development activities align with the business strategy and direction, regularly presenting the status of products and programs at quarterly team updates and executive business reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the custom thermal strategy and business plan in cooperation with regional teams.
  • Develop and manage OPEX and CAPEX budget for custom thermal COE team.
  • Work with product and regional teams to develop a 3-year revenue plan.
  • Conduct quarterly regional interlocks to ensure alignment on priorities, resource needs, product launch, and software business performance.

  • Analyze overall custom thermal market size globally, Vertiv share, and opportunities to drive growth for the custom thermal business.
  • Collect inputs from regional teams on market trends, opportunities, and customer needs as key inputs into overall roadmap, product requirements, and strategy.
  • Investigate and recommend new technologies or market opportunities and serve as product visionary to drive game-changing products, strategy, and direction.
  • Further the advancement, functionality, and manufacturability of existing products.
  • Ensure Product Development activity is in line with the strategy and direction of the business.
  • Regularly present the status of products and programs at quarterly team updates and executive business reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; 5+ years of financial and business leadership experience.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • 15+ years of relevant business experience in leading a product business segment with engineering and product management reports globally.
