About the position

The Sr. Director of Data Protection, Compliance and Governance Operations at Equifax is a pivotal role within the Global Data Office, responsible for overseeing the implementation of data compliance and governance controls across core data platforms. This position focuses on enhancing data protection strategies, ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations, and driving continuous improvement through innovative technology solutions. The role involves collaboration with various teams to optimize data governance operations and foster a culture of compliance and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement business processes and tooling for compliance management and oversight.
• Collaborate with Information Security, Technology, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance teams to develop data protection strategies.
• Manage day-to-day operations for monitoring sensitive data movement using cloud data protection technologies.
• Ensure adherence to operational KPIs and provide regular management reporting.
• Conduct audits and assessments for data access and retention, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and internal policies, reporting noncompliance as necessary.
• Streamline user access provisioning and management processes to enable self-service.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance user experience and optimize governance operations.
• Coach, mentor, and lead a team of data compliance and governance operations staff.
• Promote data governance best practices and raise awareness of data policies and standards.
• Design and execute enterprise training on data risk and compliance requirements.
• Encourage innovation and exploration of new technologies in data governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data management, information security, privacy, risk management, or related discipline.
• 7-10 years of experience in data governance operations, technology risk management, or information security with demonstrated leadership experience.
• Experience in financial services or regulated data environments.
• Demonstrated experience with data and technology risk management processes and control design.
• Experience with data protection tools such as Privacera, BigID, Varonis, and ForcePoint.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms and global data sharing laws.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• CIPP/CIPM/CIPT/CISM/CISSP or similar certifications.
• Technical aptitude for advanced privacy methods like synthetic data and differential privacy.
• Experience with SQL, BI tools, and Google Cloud Data Analytics Platform.
• Experience leveraging design thinking and agile methodologies.
