About the position

This is not a run-of-the-mill DBA position…we are looking for a superstar in this role to lead and own the database platforms at XiFin. This position will be the overall Lead Database Technologist at XiFin Inc. This position will be responsible for all architectural and operational database administration functions for Oracle, SQL Server, Synapse, MySQL & PostgreSQL. It will be accountable for database architecture, data & infrastructure design, installation, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning, security/compliance adherence, and creating the on-going operational processes and documentation to support the XiFin database platform. This position will be responsible for identifying reoccurring operational issues, configuration issues, and trends. Once these issues are identified you will be responsible for the remediation and prevention of these issues from reoccurrence in the future. The technologies within the scope of this position include the full range of database service architectures. Operating within both OLTP and DW models, provide enterprise data management, data warehousing, dimensional and relational data modeling, data integration, ETL, database business intelligence system & supporting technologies (Oracle Goldengate, Oracle RAC, Synapse, Data Factory, etc.). Also within scope are commonly used operations management tools & desktop products in support of the technologies. This position will report to the CIO and will provide guidance to the applications development and applications support teams. This position will need to understand XiFin's SaaS based product applications and how they relate to our current database platform, so they are able to set and enforce standards/best practices in the application team's development efforts and the DBA operational support.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, design, implement and manage database services and responsible for the configuration, maintenance and capacity planning for technologies in scope.
• Execute project engineering and solution processes & functions for technologies in scope. Responsible and accountable for service and project delivery.
• Develop, implement, execute & communicate the database architecture, engineering & standards strategy and for its operational usage across the enterprise for technologies in scope.
• Create and execute an Architecture Standards Board (ASB) strategy for technologies in scope through defining & implementing standards, reference design architectures, and leading long range database planning.
• Implement the strategy for XiFin's operational OLTP and BI platform.
• Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with strategic partners from within XiFin IT, business partners, Project Management, and Engineering and Network Operations, as well as all database related external outsourced IT infrastructure service providers serving XiFin.
• Monitor, report, communicate & implement the standards used by XiFin business applications for the database technologies in scope.
• Monitor and report the technology lifecycle & roadmap for the technologies in scope, including technology absorption & risk, technology refresh, migration & retirement strategies.
• Stay abreast of technical trends and directions in the technology & vendor communities and identify new opportunities for use of this technology at XiFin.
• Execute capacity planning and monitoring processes for technologies in scope.
• Develop, monitor, report and present key database performance metrics for technologies in scope.
• Maintain and administer the stability of the enterprise database environment. Ensure recoverability meeting business requirements, database system performance meeting business requirements, database system availability meeting business requirements and data integrity.
• Develop and govern proper database security to protect corporate databases against external and internal unauthorized access.
• Working with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
• 10 years or more technical database leadership and administration experience required.
• Strong background and understanding of the database technologies, prevailing standards, and best practices.
• Healthcare (HIPPA) background preferred.
• Must have deep and effective understand of database architectures, design, configuration, implementation, operations support & troubleshooting skills with database, data warehouse, data replication, OLTP, OLAP, DSS, reporting and analytical technologies.
• Must have broad understanding & experience with data security technologies & best practices.
• Must have deep knowledge and experience of the following Oracle technologies: Oracle Certified Master: Database & Enterprise Architect, Oracle EE Database 19c+, Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle RAC/Grid Control/ASM, Oracle OEM and RMAN, Oracle Licensing concepts.
