About the position

The Senior Director of Digital Marketing will drive Grocery Outlet's lifecycle marketing and personalization strategy focusing on acquiring new customers and growing and engaging our customers to drive discovery, engagement, retention, and lifetime value. They will be responsible for building and refining the strategy across all channels including mobile app, email, web, SMS, loyalty and streaming. The ideal candidate will have a consistent track record of delivering measurable growth and engagement through testing and optimization. This individual will report to the SVP, Chief New Stores Growth Officer, and have 3 direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop multi-channel marketing strategies for customer lifecycle, acquisition, growth, retention, and re-activation programs including e-mail, loyalty, push & SMS
  • Support team in identifying new capabilities, setting strategic priorities, and building the multiyear roadmap
  • Oversee mobile app and loyalty strategy (offers, rewards)
  • Lead Social planning/Paid social/ Programmatic/Search etc.
  • Identify and manage all digital agency partners
  • Manage vendor contracts and vendor relationships
  • Evaluate and manage the martech stack
  • Apply customer segmentation and marketing automation tools to deliver personalized and hyper-local customer marketing journeys across multiple touchpoints
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign results across all channels to understand the efficacy of strategies and tactics for improving engagement and retention
  • Support in developing, implementing, measuring and reporting short and long-term marketing plans that include advertising, sales materials, brand building, communications, promotional events, online/social programs
  • Implement competitively advantaged marketing strategies and tactics to drive customer acquisition, retention and growth across all digital platforms
  • Provide marketing expertise, market trend insights and strong industry knowledge to partner with Buyers and marketing department for promo information, ad coordination and ad strategy

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience in CRM, Loyalty, or Marketing Analytics within a retail environment
  • 3+ years of experience managing, developing, and growing teams
  • Highly analytical and capable of deriving actionable insights from data through testing and optimization
  • A people leader who thrives on getting teams excited and motivated
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment while managing competing priorities
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable results (in terms of LTV, churn, etc.) through testing and optimization
  • Knowledge of CDP technology management, with a strong understanding of marketing, data structure, operational databases & segmentation
  • Focused on data and familiar with tools to support retention and CRM efforts
  • Comfortable with Google Analytics, Business Intelligence Tools, Customer Data and CRM Platforms
  • Great at building relationships to partner with stakeholders across various departments
  • Highly organized, with an ability to balance and effectively prioritize numerous projects and initiatives
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills and ability to develop and present strategies, insights and results to all levels of leadership
  • BS/BA in related field preferred
