About the position

The Sr. Director of Finance for Clinical Commercial Operations at bioMérieux plays a pivotal role in the financial management and strategic planning of the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO of North America, this position is responsible for leading the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and financial reporting specifically tailored for Clinical Commercial Operations. The Sr. Director will oversee Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities and maintain full oversight of the Profit and Loss (P&L) within clinical operations. This role is crucial in supporting the establishment and documentation of an internal control framework that aligns with commercial operations and group policy requirements. In this capacity, the Sr. Director is expected to exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies, selecting appropriate methods and techniques to achieve desired results. A key aspect of this role involves proactively identifying risk-related issues through a thorough review of both qualitative and quantitative data, anticipating potential obstacles, and implementing effective mitigating solutions. As a cross-functional strategic leader, the Sr. Director will collaborate with various areas of the clinical operations team to support, guide, and drive commercial business objectives. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial and budgetary processes, including the creation, review, analysis, and interpretation of financial reports. The Sr. Director will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal controls, timely financial closings, and the reconciliation of commercial revenue and operational expenditure accounts. Additionally, this role involves overseeing the commercial team in all financial aspects related to mission plan generation and administration, as well as ensuring compliance with IFRS and group policy revenue reporting guidelines. The Sr. Director will also manage government reporting requirements and provide critical insights to the sales team regarding customer trends and contract management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform all work in compliance with company policy and internal control manual.
  • Create, review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports.
  • Prepare long-term strategic plans related to clinical operations in conjunction with the GM and CFO North America.
  • Ensure a compliant and sustainable internal control environment.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of commercial revenue and OPEX accounts as assigned.
  • Maintain full financial ownership of the value chain within clinical operations, making recommendations on current processes and mitigating areas of risk.
  • Support the commercial team in all financial aspects for mission plan generation, maintenance, and administration.
  • Oversee contracting and pricing compliance with IFRS and group policy revenue reporting guidelines.
  • Manage the pricing tool and implement necessary enhancements.
  • Responsible for all reporting associated with government requirements related to this position.
  • Provide information to the sales team regarding customer trends and contract management reporting.
  • Actively manage direct reports to improve performance and technical knowledge.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 8 years of FP&A experience and 4 years of management experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 10 years of FP&A experience and 4 years of management experience.
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business-related fields preferred.
  • 5 years of major ERP experience, preferably with SAP transactions and reporting.
  • Revenue Accounting experience highly preferred.
  • Experience managing revenue over $100M is highly preferred.
  • Experience with CRM tools is preferred.
  • Preferred experience with IFRS within a complex global organization.
  • Strong financial planning and analysis background with extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, analysis, financial statement preparation, and financial modeling.
  • Proficient computer skills using Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and analytics and BI tools such as DOMO, Tableau, and Alteryx.
  • Strong process improvement skills and ability to act as a change agent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for any level within the organization.
