About the position

As the Sr. Director of HR Operations at Moderna, you will be responsible for leading our global HR operations, encompassing HR service delivery, process documentation and execution, knowledge management, audit and compliance, vendor management, and data and reporting. This role demands the design and implementation of an advanced HR operations strategy to augment the effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability of HR services across the organization. You will drive the transformation and optimization of HR processes and infrastructure through cutting-edge solutions, including the seamless integration of innovative digital and AI technologies. Reporting to the Executive Director, HR Operations, you will lead a globally dispersed team and will play an integral role in fostering a performance-driven, employee-centric culture that is in line with Moderna's growth. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in HR systems, process design, transformation, continuous improvement, and leadership of global operations. You will design and implement a comprehensive global HR operations strategy aligned with Moderna's growth plans, articulating the strategic value of investments in HR Operations. You will build and manage the HR operational infrastructure focusing on scalable, centralized, and decentralized support models to enhance agility and efficiency. Partnering with HR leaders and COEs, you will continuously refine existing HR processes and systems to pinpoint standardization and automation opportunities, tailoring solutions to accommodate local regulations and specificities. In this role, you will lead the HR Operations Tier 1 team and cultivate an environment of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaborative effort. You will develop escalation paths for resolving HR Ops service delivery issues and create metrics-based tools to assess and elevate the performance and value of HR services. Additionally, you will oversee the maintenance of Moderna's HR data foundations and architecture, monitor the HR Ops "Health" Dashboards, and provide timely and accurate data on the quality of HR processes and systems, identifying and resolving issues before they impact the business. You will lead HR Knowledge Management to ensure that global processes, SOPs, guidelines, and policies are documented, structured to optimize and enable AI-driven enhancements and integrations, and manage global HR vendor performance while ensuring compliance and budget adherence. Furthermore, you will partner with Digital teams to evaluate and upgrade the HR technology infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the global organization, and utilize HR metrics and analytics to gauge the success of new technology deployments or enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global HR vendor management, elevating the performance of vendors, ensuring we remain within budget, and our processes are compliant.
  • Partner with Digital teams to evaluate and upgrade the HR technology infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the global organization.
  • Utilize HR metrics and analytics to gauge the success of new technology deployments or enhancements and prioritize action plans following technology 'health checks'.
  • Partner with Legal during new country expansions to embed appropriate processes and policies and stay abreast of legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Lead our HR Compliance Program to minimize risk and ensure accurate and timely submission of required reports to government agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in HR operations or HR technology, with a focus on strategic planning and global process optimization.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in designing and implementing HR technology solutions in a global organization.

  • Prior successful experience working in a high growth environment, in the technology, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry.
