About the position

BLK is more than just a dating app—it’s a social and cultural hub for the Black community. We’re looking for a strong, senior individual with deep experience in driving growth through product & organic marketing strategies for consumer products. This person will have a deep understanding of user needs for our existing and future audience, as well as a strong perspective on what it takes to drive organic & viral growth. This is a perfect role for a hands-on, data-driven, consumer tech product & growth marketer that has an intuitive understanding of how to analyze user behavior and identify opportunities across the entire user funnel to drive organic acquisition, activation, and retention. You are eager to learn and explore, comfortable creating clarity from ambiguity, and asking “what if?” We want a creative thinker who is always chasing down big, never-done-before ideas and tactics to drive growth in bold and innovative ways.

Responsibilities

  • Growing BLK’s user base, increasing MAU, and improving retention.
  • Ensuring BLK’s brand voice, identity, and messaging remain consistent and authentic.
  • Expanding BLK’s cultural relevance and deepening engagement within the Black community.
  • Identifying and leveraging data-driven insights to drive organic and viral growth.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to attract new users organically through word-of-mouth, viral engagement loops, and social sharing mechanisms.
  • Optimizing referral programs, social sharing incentives, and invite mechanics to increase app downloads and organic adoption.
  • Improving virality metrics (K-Factor, referral conversion rates).
  • Leveraging influencer, content creator, and brand ambassador programs to drive awareness and first-time downloads.
  • Working closely with Product, Performance Marketing, Design, and Analytics teams to ensure acquisition strategies align with user behaviors.
  • Designing and refining the user onboarding process to ensure new users quickly understand and find value in the product.
  • Developing onboarding messaging and engagement campaigns to encourage early user interactions and drive retention.
  • Using data and experimentation to test and optimize activation strategies and improve activation rates.
  • Developing and executing re-engagement campaigns using push notifications, email marketing, and in-app content.
  • Analyzing user behavior data to identify churn risks and implement solutions.
  • Increasing Monthly Active Users (MAU) and Daily Active Users (DAU), and optimizing conversion rates across the user journey.
  • Ensuring all growth initiatives reflect BLK’s values, mission, and cultural identity.
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to define needs and build a high-performing team aligned to brand objectives.
  • Establishing feedback loops to gather user insights and integrate them into product development and marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in growth marketing, product marketing, or community activation in a consumer tech or social app.
  • Strong understanding of viral growth mechanics, referral loops, and organic acquisition strategies.
  • Proven experience in user acquisition, onboarding optimization, and retention strategies.
  • Deep knowledge of Black culture, digital trends, and social media behaviors that influence organic growth.
  • Strong brand marketing experience, with the ability to own and protect brand voice, positioning, and messaging.
  • Strong analytical and experimentation skills to optimize marketing initiatives.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable navigating rapid product and marketing testing cycles.
