About the position

The Senior Director of HR Partners & Employee Relations at Rush University Medical Center is responsible for overseeing the Employee Relations functions and HR Partner team members. This role involves creating and supporting strategies that foster a positive employee relations culture across the organization. The position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure operational efficiency and the implementation of best practices in employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the AVP of Talent Management on strategy and execution of department goals, projects, and initiatives.
  • Manage, lead, coach, and develop the HR Partner Team and Employee Relations Managers.
  • Provide expert guidance to managers and team members in addressing employee relations issues.
  • Conduct investigations of complaints and concerns that could result in legal ramifications.
  • Set team standards, expectations, and goals, and provide support to ensure achievement.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.
  • Guide team members through complex or sensitive situations as needed.
  • Develop and implement employee-centric strategies and resources to address departmental needs.
  • Consult with subject matter experts on promotions, pay decisions, and job evaluations.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and develop insights for HR teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 12+ years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or a related field
  • Ten plus years of experience in leading teams of five or more people
  • Working knowledge of HR functional areas and employment laws
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Strong management presence and track record of leading HR initiatives
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to travel to other Rush locations as needed

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or Juris Doctorate (JD)
  • PHR/SPHR certification
  • Multiple industry experience
  • Prior Healthcare experience
  • Project Management Skills and/or certification
  • Experience in a union and non-union environment
