About the position

The Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for the Baton Rouge Market is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies across the organization. This role involves managing internal and external communications, media relations, and community engagement to foster understanding and support for the health system's mission and accomplishments.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the System Marketing team by offering creativity and idea-sharing for concept development and marketing strategy evaluation.
  • Initiates and builds positive and productive working relationships with members of the print and electronic media.
  • Researches, writes and distributes press materials to promote fair and positive media coverage of the organization.
  • Develops proactive media relations strategies and responds to media inquiries.
  • Ensures that media is escorted during taping/interviewing in hospital facilities.
  • Serves as media liaison when hospital codes or the Command Center is activated.
  • Stays abreast of local, regional and national coverage of healthcare issues affecting the organization.
  • Creates opportunities to share organizational messages in the community.
  • Collaborates with market operational leaders in planning and implementing community events.
  • Responsible for social media activity that aligns with system goals.
  • Develops employee communications to engage staff and promote their roles as public ambassadors.
  • Works with System Internal Communications team to implement integrated communication plans.
  • Coordinates with the system team for creative concepts and production of advertising tactics.
  • Maintains and provides ongoing development of web-based electronic content.
  • Leads and manages an effective market-based team as part of the larger system MarComm team.
  • Seeks challenges aggressively and ensures innovation in processes.
  • Designs a vision and creates an environment to support that vision.
  • Employs techniques to improve discussions and resolve conflicts among team members.
  • Fosters a culture of spirituality and inclusion within the team.

Requirements

  • 10 years relevant experience in marketing and communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Master's degree can substitute for 2 years of experience.
  • Experience in communication, public relations, and marketing campaigns.
