About the position

The Sr Director of Product Management for BIG-IP Next at F5 Networks is a leadership role focused on driving innovation and delivering industry-leading products in the cloud and datacenter application delivery and security space. This position involves setting long-term business goals, managing product strategy, and leading a geographically distributed team of product owners to enhance customer experiences across various market segments, including fintech, healthcare, and government.

Responsibilities

  • Set long term business goals for the next generation of F5 BIG-IP software and build annual product plans.
  • Accountable for F5 BIG-IP software strategy, all releases of BIG-IP software, and lifecycle management.
  • Define principles, guidelines, and standards for release planning in F5 BIG-IP software.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for development by engineering teams.
  • Work closely with sales to identify growth opportunities and execute product and GTM initiatives.
  • Engage with customers and channel partners to drive product adoption.
  • Represent product in quarterly business reviews, articulating the state of the business and framing initiatives for growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to articulate dependencies and enable aligned execution.
  • Lead a team of product managers through all processes in the product lifecycle.
  • Attract and grow diverse product management talent.
  • Mentor product managers to ensure timely and specification-aligned software releases.
  • Represent product area in sales and customer-facing forums.

Requirements

  • Proven track record as a product manager leader or engineering leader with experience in B2B solutions.
  • Experience in all phases of product lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries.
  • Background in networking software and hardware.
  • Solid understanding of cloud/data center networking, application delivery, and application security concepts.
  • Passion for leading teams and contributing to career development.
  • Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Ability to balance strategy, technical depth, and execution in product delivery.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering; a graduate degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management.
