About the position

As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead multiple technical areas within the Core Foundational Platforms. This role involves strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions, particularly focusing on Kubernetes and potentially expanding to other runtime compute products. You will manage various departments, drive the adoption of technical methods, and ensure the firm remains at the forefront of industry trends and technological advances.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple technology and process implementations across departments to achieve firmwide technology objectives.
• Directly manage multiple areas with a strategic transactional focus.
• Provide leadership and high-level direction to teams while overseeing employee populations across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business.
• Act as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives.
• Manage multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations.
• Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams.
• Champion the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
• Build, lead, mentor, and manage a team of Kubernetes engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Integrate software engineers within a ‘focus area' construct.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to align Kubernetes solutions with business and technical goals.
• Implement best practices for container orchestration, security, and monitoring within the organization.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on system design, application development, testing, and operational stability concepts with 10 years of applied experience.
• 5 years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate, and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and across the organization.
• Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists.
• Demonstrated experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale.
• Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining a large Kubernetes environment.
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
• Extensive practical cloud-native experience.
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Nice-to-haves

• Proven experience in managing engineering teams and delivering cloud-native solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools (e.g., CI/CD, Terraform, Helm).

• Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools.
