About the position

The Sr. Director of Patent Quality Review and Litigation Support at InterDigital is responsible for leading the review of claim-charted patents post-grant and providing litigation support. This role involves collaboration with various teams, including Portfolio Management, Patent attorneys, and Licensing support, to assess invalidity and infringement risks, and to organize resources for litigation projects. The position plays a crucial role in the Patent Department, which supports research and innovation teams across multiple locations, ensuring strategic portfolio management aligned with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of the post grant portfolio review strategy and communicate with related parties.
  • Manage the post grant portfolio review process and perform due diligence on claim-charted patents to assess infringement and invalidity risk.
  • Establish and manage relationships with the Portfolio Management team regarding patent families and claim charts.
  • Act as the patent team liaison to the global litigation team, supporting litigation and invalidation actions.
  • Maintain awareness of global SEP litigation cases and provide guidance to enhance prosecution processes.
  • Lead cross-functional patent activities, including portfolio management strategy and quality review projects.

Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience as a US patent attorney
  • BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technology area
  • Experience in wireless communication and knowledge of wireless standards (3GPP, IEEE 802.11, etc.)
  • Experience in post grant proceedings including reviews and invalidity proceedings
  • Experience in licensing and litigation
  • Previous experience with large cellular communication companies is preferred
  • Previous project management experience with multiple teams is preferred
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently while collaborating with a broader team
  • Strong communication skills at all organizational levels and a global mindset.
