About the position

The Senior Director of Product Innovation Management at Cepheid is responsible for defining and guiding the execution of the assay R&D pipeline across all New Product Development (NPD) teams. This role involves identifying unmet clinical needs, translating them into innovative products, and ensuring their successful market introduction. The position emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and a culture of innovation within the organization, aiming to improve healthcare through advanced diagnostic solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performing team of Product Innovation Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough market research and assessments to understand unmet clinical needs and technological trends.
  • Translate new product ideas into detailed product definitions that are compelling and competitive.
  • Partner with R&D and Clinical & Regulatory Affairs to drive assay innovation execution.
  • Collaborate with Product Portfolio Managers to bring new products to market and ensure successful launches.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Champion a culture of creativity and collaboration throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, engineering, or medicine, or 8+ years with a Master's degree; Ph.D. or M.D. preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing people.
  • Proven track record in product innovation management within the Diagnostics industry or related fields.
  • Deep knowledge of the healthcare industry and regulatory landscape governing Medical Devices and Diagnostics.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with a strong track record of translating market insights into actionable product roadmaps.
  • Strong collaborative leadership style with experience in driving results in matrixed organizations.
  • Experience in building and coaching product management teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in product management and/or product development.
  • Specific experience in Molecular Diagnostics and Infectious Disease and/or Oncology.
  • Experience partnering with external organizations to deliver new product innovation.
