About the position
The Sr. Director of R&D at Benefit Cosmetics plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining high-quality, inclusive, and innovative formulas for all products and services. This position oversees the R&D Formula Development and Validation teams, ensuring alignment with global launch schedules and compliance with regulations. The role also focuses on future-proofing formulas through research and innovation activities, leading a diverse team of professionals in the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop the formula innovation strategy in partnership with the SVP, Global PSI.
- Collaborate with the Product Innovation Team to finalize project briefs based on calendarized initiatives.
- Oversee formula development from approval to production, guiding the R&D team through the process.
- Manage team collaboration and validation processes to ensure compliance and timely validation of formulas.
- Monitor timelines and milestones in the project management system, providing leadership and troubleshooting to avoid delays.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science, Colour Cosmetic Formulation, Chemistry, or equivalent.
- 12-15 years of formula development experience, focusing on colour cosmetics and/or skincare formulation.
- 10-12 years of team leadership experience, specifically in scientific fields.
- Strong technical skills in formulation, raw material knowledge, and formula evaluation.
- Ability to review formulas and understand ingredient adjustments for desired attributes.
- In-depth understanding of global industry formula requirements and guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of cosmetic chemistry across various product types.
