About the position

The position provides strategic direction and operational leadership for insurance billing and follow-up processes across all Cleveland Clinic entities. The role focuses on enhancing corporate accounts receivable operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and developing strategies to address challenges in the revenue cycle due to healthcare reforms and legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and operational enhancements for insurance billing operations.
  • Collaborate to implement efficiency strategies to improve first pass payment rates.
  • Develop comprehensive strategies to respond to challenges in revenue cycle practices due to legislation and compliance changes.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills with all organizational levels.
  • Work consultatively with physician partners and institute leaders to develop patient-focused solutions.
  • Maintain accountability for insurance claiming functions and denials remediation operations.
  • Supervise designated regional centers, including budget preparation and goal establishment.
  • Assist billing operations in achieving corporate goals for cash collections and net revenue comparisons.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding patient services and reimbursement.
  • Implement corporate financial policies related to accounts receivable issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business-related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of progressive leadership and managerial experience in a large, multi-facility hospital or clinic.
  • Extensive knowledge of operational revenue cycle management, preferably with EPIC experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to implement complex system integrations.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Professional presentation, consulting, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in revenue cycle management (RCM) and large volume billing.
  • Experience working in large physician-led healthcare systems.
