About the position

The Senior Director of Strategy for the Robotic Surgical Technologies (RST) Operating Unit at Medtronic will lead global strategic planning for robotic-assisted surgical procedures. This role involves collaboration with various departments to build and execute strategies that align with business objectives, focusing on market opportunities and competitive intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual and long-term strategic planning process for the RST OU, aligning departmental goals with overall company objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify new opportunities and inform strategic decisions in the robotic-assisted surgery market.
  • Identify and assess potential partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions to expand market reach.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, and Operations teams to align product development with strategic goals.
  • Partner with Finance to develop financial models and performance metrics to evaluate strategic initiatives.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of strategic planners and analysts.
  • Ensure all strategies prioritize the needs of customers and patients.

Requirements

  • Requires a Baccalaureate degree or equivalent with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including 10+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience and 10 years of managerial experience.
  • Advanced management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Medical Device industry, particularly in new product development and clinical trial management.
  • Experience developing solutions for surgeons using various surgical approaches.
  • Advanced degree such as MS or MBA with strong financial acumen.
  • Knowledge of patient safety, quality, and clinical research.
  • Strong strategy and/or marketing background.
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and executing projects in a corporate environment.
