About the position

The Sr. Director/Vice President of Commercial Product at Medscape will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction and performance of the company's commercial product portfolio, particularly in the realm of digital advertising and media solutions. This leadership role requires a visionary mindset and a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, especially regarding how digital advertising and media solutions are assessed for performance and marketing effectiveness by manufacturers and agencies. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team, working collaboratively across various departments to deliver innovative solutions that cater to the evolving needs of clients and support the company's growth objectives. In this position, the individual will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive commercial product strategy that aligns with Medscape's business goals and market demands. This includes identifying and prioritizing product opportunities that enhance value for healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical clients. The role encompasses overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch evaluation, ensuring the creation of innovative, market-leading products and services that foster client engagement and revenue growth. Additionally, the Sr. Director/Vice President will stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape, leveraging market research and user feedback to inform product decisions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key pharmaceutical clients and healthcare professionals is crucial, as is collaborating closely with marketing, sales, technology, and other internal teams to ensure seamless product development and delivery. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement and innovation, championing a culture of agility to respond rapidly to market changes and client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial product strategy that aligns with Medscape's business goals and market demands.
  • Identify and prioritize product opportunities to enhance value for healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, including ideation, development, launch, and post-launch evaluation.
  • Drive the creation of innovative, market-leading products and services that support client engagement and revenue growth.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Leverage market research and user feedback to inform product decisions and ensure a competitive edge.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of product managers and developers.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the product team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key pharmaceutical clients and healthcare professionals.
  • Understand client needs and challenges to deliver solutions that exceed expectations and drive successful customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, sales, technology, and other internal teams to ensure seamless product development and delivery.
  • Drive alignment on product vision and execution across the organization.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or marketing technology sectors.
  • Digital advertising and media experience in support of pharmaceutical products.
  • Understanding of key performance indicators generally accepted by pharmaceutical manufacturers; how those KPIs may evolve; and a focus on developing products that meet/exceed those evolving KPIs from manufacturers and agencies.
  • Product management experience for self-service platform workflows and in advertising technology (DSP, DMP, SSP, exchange, ad server, etc) required.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading product teams and delivering commercial products that drive business growth.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including regulatory requirements, market trends, and competitive dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable product strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
