About the position

The Sr. Drafter position focuses on high voltage transmission facilities, requiring a skilled individual to work closely with engineers, designers, and other drafters. This role is essential in preparing specifications and detailed drawings that are crucial for the construction and maintenance of high-voltage transmission infrastructure, including poles, towers, and conductors. The successful candidate will utilize their expertise to support design deliverables that facilitate the installation, operation, and maintenance of these facilities. Sound judgment and a commitment to quality are paramount in this role, as the drafter will be responsible for creating critical schematic drawings that visually communicate project requirements to line crews. The position entails a mix of office and fieldwork, with approximately 95% of the time spent in the office and 5% in the field. Office responsibilities include effective communication with team members via email and phone, attending departmental meetings, performing calculations, and creating and reviewing plans and drawings. The role requires a commitment to working forty hours per week, with the possibility of overtime as needed. The Drafter 3 position specifically requires 7-10 years of drafting experience, along with an associate's degree in drafting and design, which is preferred. In this role, the drafter will work with both 2D and 3D CAD software to develop models and drawings based on the information provided by designers and engineers. This includes revising existing 2D drawings to support plant retrofit projects and conducting plant-site walkdowns to gather field data and dimensional information necessary for design purposes. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of engineering design principles and standards. Additionally, the ability to lead small projects and build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors is essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements
