About the position

As a Senior ECAD Tools Application Engineer for Project Kuiper, you will play a crucial role in providing stable and reliable ECAD tools and database management for electrical engineering design, layout, and simulation engineers. Your responsibilities will include anticipating tool needs, supporting users, and developing processes to facilitate the rapid development of a low Earth orbit satellite constellation aimed at increasing global broadband access.

Responsibilities

  • Provide stable and reliable ECAD tools and database management for electrical engineering design, layout, and simulation engineers.
  • Anticipate tool needs and support users in their projects.
  • Develop processes to enable successful and rapid development of satellite constellation.
  • Work with end users to resolve project issues and streamline development processes.
  • Create proposals and documentation for future infrastructure needs to support scalability.
  • Research new tools or technologies to enhance design rigor and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Application Engineer for CAD tools such as Mentor Xpedition, Cadence Allegro, or Altium Designer.
  • 5+ years of experience with frontend design tools and backend ECAD library/design database management.
  • 5+ years of Enterprise Tool administration experience, including debugging client and server-side application issues and software installation.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and documenting engineering processes related to ECAD tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Electrical Engineering design.
  • Experience as Application Engineer for Mentor Xpedition and Mentor EDM.
  • Experience automating ECAD workflows/processes.
  • Experience providing support for Hyperlynx, Ansys, Reliance, and other engineering applications.
  • Experience with Windows servers, Batch scripts, PowerShell, and HyperV.
  • Experience with Linux servers, Bash scripts, cron, ssh, samba, etc.
  • Experience with PLM systems and engineering lifecycle management.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals such as switching and routing.
  • Experience with flexlm license servers.
  • Experience with LDAP and SAML for user management and authentication.
  • Experience architecting AWS infrastructure.
