About the position

As a Sr. Electrical Engineer at AWS Infrastructure Services, you will be responsible for solving technical challenges related to design innovation, quality assurance, and continual improvement for our rapidly expanding data center footprint. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to deliver high-quality electrical distribution systems that ensure world-class uptime for our customers. You will work on billion-dollar design portfolios, drive continuous advancements in engineering standards, and mentor other engineers while supporting construction and commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with product engineers and project engineers to incorporate new innovations into data center designs.
  • Develop key engineering details for first-of-a-kind designs.
  • Document and communicate new engineering standards and requirements for our larger engineering team.
  • Mentor engineers across the Design Engineering organization.
  • Create data center electrical designs and collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholder teams to deliver results.
  • Develop designs that meet or exceed quality requirements and fall within budgetary constraints.
  • Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
  • Review and approve equipment submittals.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction phases.
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
  • Travel to sites for site reviews and work with onsite field engineers, providing engineering evaluations and electrical systems audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or 12+ years of relevant electrical experience.
  • Professional Engineering License.
  • 10+ years of experience developing design documentation for construction.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Center or relevant Mission Critical design.

  • Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Detailed understanding of uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches.
