About the position

Vertiv is currently looking to add a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to our Pelzer, SC team. We look for people who are 100% team oriented, self-driven, and technically proficient. We are building a team of motivated and detail-oriented people who will produce a quality product for some of the most prestigious clients in the world. This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven team with minimal functional management and continue to build on the reputation we have created throughout Europe and the Middle East to establish the same reputation in the United States. This means that everyone is expected to be self-driven. Our leadership team will guide you on projects which suit your strengths, but a willingness to get the job done and overcome obstacles is a must. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys a variety of new challenges, a hands-on environment and will accept the challenges and reap the benefits of working for a facility with a blank canvas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical switchgear systems for various industrial, commercial, and utility applications.
  • Create innovative solutions and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers.
  • Individually contribute to product development & engineering by executing advanced tasks, processes, techniques, and procedures in a technical support role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or a related field; Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on switchgear and control systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while developing accurate and detailed electrical control designs.
  • Expert in switchgear design, electrical protection systems, and control panel design.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP).
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Capable of taking individual ownership of projects and working in a team environment.
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Display a proactive flexible approach to working within a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or similar.
  • Experience with advanced switchgear technologies and smart grid systems.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as digital substations and IoT applications.
