About the position

The Sr. Electrical Designer role at Orion Energy Systems, Inc. involves conducting field surveys and audits of customer sites, primarily focusing on the installation of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and customer interaction, with a significant amount of travel throughout the Northeast to ensure accurate assessments and customer satisfaction. The role is part of the Voltrek team, emphasizing independence, problem-solving, and hands-on activities in various environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys and audits of customer sites.
• Perform accurate and detailed site assessments of customers' facilities in compliance with project scopes for EVSE installations.
• Provide accurate field sketches and notes; document site assessments as required.
• Design electrical infrastructure and price projects according to specifications.
• Collaborate with Site Engineer to develop project plans and pricing for subcontractors and utilities.
• Work with third-party Electrical PE to develop stamped plans when necessary.
• Function as Safety Officer for construction services and review company safety policies.
• Manage subcontractor relationships and evaluate their performance.
• Support Project Managers with scopes of work requiring Utility designs.
• Act as a subject matter expert for the sales team and customers on technical/construction questions.
• Identify and implement efficiencies in construction design and management.

Requirements

• Licensed Master Electrician or similar with 10+ years of experience.
• Associate degree in electrical, construction, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with the design and construction of EVSE infrastructure.
• Experience working with utilities on new service work order requests for single and three-phase service.
• Ability to understand EVSE schematics and facility drawings.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely climb ladders and follow safety protocols.
• Experience in the site assessment process.
• Ability to read and understand engineering proposals and related documents.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in mentoring team members in the EVSE segment.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and compliance.
