About the position

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr Electrical Engineer - Antennas to join our growing team. This position is crucial for the development of key elements of mission and communications subsystems for innovative, high-capability small satellites. The Sr Electrical Engineer will be responsible for full lifecycle ownership of antenna assemblies and subassemblies, from concept through design, manufacturing, and testing. This role involves exciting product development activities, including the design and implementation of phased array antennas, high data rate radios, and radar systems. The engineer will create architecture diagrams, conduct analysis, and prepare design review presentations. Detailed antenna design, implementation, and testing will be a significant part of the role. Collaboration with systems, software, mechanical, and digital engineering teams is essential to develop optimal solutions to complex problems, including thermal management, layout support, and harness design and routing. The engineer will also be responsible for developing custom test interface hardware when needed, as well as assembly procedures, test plans, and fabrication documentation. Cooperative testing, debugging, and requirements verification activities will be part of the job, along with methodical artwork and layout peer review and rigorous documentation of results and comments. Additional responsibilities may include supporting other program or integrated product teams when subject matter expertise, review, or input is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop key elements of mission and communications subsystems for small satellites.

  • Create architecture diagrams, analysis, and design review presentations.
  • Conduct detailed antenna design, implementation, and testing.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with Ansys HFSS or similar electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Antenna range test experience.
  • Experience with Keysight/PathWave ADS, Cadence/AWR Microwave Office, or similar RF design tools.
  • Experience with network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and similar RF test equipment.
  • Experience with oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, and similar standard test equipment.
  • Antenna/RF test and troubleshooting experience.
  • Antenna/RF analysis and simulation experience.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in design and documentation.

Nice-to-haves

  • MSEE or other relevant graduate degree.
  • Active RF or mixed signal circuit design experience.
  • Space hardware design experience.
  • Phased array system design experience.
  • Experience with LabView or similar test automation software development.
  • Experience with Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or similar schematic capture and circuit board design tools.
