The position provides engineering support to advanced manufacturing processes that require specialized qualifications, knowledge, and skills. The role involves project management, design, development, evaluation, and quality control functions on complex engineering projects. The individual will regularly offer innovative solutions to significant technical problems, applying mathematical, physical science, and advanced engineering technologies to achieve engineering objectives. The position allows for considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of assignments, and the individual is recognized as an authority within their area of expertise, showcasing a wide versatility of experience and capability. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with design agencies, support organizations, and internal/external customer representatives. The engineer will determine the acceptability of designs, processes, and materials in collaboration with design agencies and quality teams, negotiating necessary changes. Active participation in design reviews, collaboration meetings, and Product Realization Teams is expected. The role also involves evaluating and implementing innovations and technological advancements that improve quality, reduce flow time, enhance productivity, and ensure operational reliability. The engineer will drive the rapid resolution of component, system, and flight test anomalies through research, development, and execution of experiments, collaborating with both internal and external technical resources. Proficiency in root cause analysis of complex systems is essential, as is interaction with design agencies and suppliers to resolve moderate to complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues. Additionally, the engineer will mentor and develop others to balance workloads, accommodate surge support, reduce single-point expertise risks, and ensure a pipeline of technical talent. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
