Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) has been a leader in the aerospace and defense industry for over 60 years, and we are now applying our expertise to the U.S. Air Force's Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) mission. We invite you to join the SNC-led SAOC team, where you will engage in exciting and meaningful work aimed at modernizing and delivering the next-generation SAOC aircraft. This aircraft is trusted by high-level officials, including the President and the Secretary of Defense, to ensure critical command, control, and communication during national emergencies. As an Electrical Engineer at SNC, you will be involved in researching, designing, developing, testing, certifying, deploying, and improving cutting-edge products and services. Your work will span a wide range of areas, from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated aircraft and orbital space exploration systems. You will conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle, which includes everything from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, serving as a prime integrator for innovative, high-performance systems. Our end-to-end C4ISR capabilities encompass design, integration, testing, certification, training, and complete logistics support, tailored to meet customer requirements while consistently exceeding expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy, and improve cutting-edge products and services.
  • Conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Conduct extensive ground and flight test programs.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Engineering tools for design and analysis.
  • Analyze Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) and perform circuit modeling and simulation.
  • Generate electrical and mechanical drawings for instrumentation installation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Typically 10 or more years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, 1553, ARINC 429, and CAN bus protocols.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to simulations through functional and logical models and system analysis.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Familiarity with design requirements related to High Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) and Indirect Effects of Lightning (IEL).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard electrical design principles, including model-based definition and electrical component selection.
  • Familiarity with Electro Magnetic Effects (EME), including Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI).
  • Experience in digital or analog circuit design and schematic capture.
  • Understanding of the printed circuit board layout process and tools.
  • Experience with designing and utilizing complex instrumentation data acquisition packages.
  • Software development or coding experience.
