About the position

The Sr. Electrical Engineer position at KMC Systems involves leading design and development projects for medical devices, requiring advanced engineering expertise and creativity. The role includes technical leadership, project coordination, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions that enhance clinical and operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out specific engineering project technical assignments as part of larger program objectives in the design and development of products, test equipment, or processes.
  • Assist with the determination of design requirements, recommend design architecture, evaluate design alternatives, and select optimal design approaches.
  • Develop requirements, specifications, schematics, simulations, assembly drawings, bills of material, and material cost estimates.
  • Ensure component reliability based on technical evaluation of suppliers' specifications, designs, and manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare technical documents and reports, including engineering specifications for major component purchases.
  • Lead or conduct experiments/tests to determine operating characteristics of products or processes.
  • Assist manufacturing in the transition from development into production and provide technical support as required.
  • Contribute to engineering project planning and tracking, estimating effort and duration of specific tasks.
  • Responsible for successful completion of tasks and designs, communicating status and resource needs to the program manager or lead engineer.
  • Participate in preparing proposals for new projects.
  • Provide technical direction to other engineering personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering and electronic design.
  • Intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Technical leadership experience.
  • Digital and analog circuit design experience.
  • Schematic and PCB design experience.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Self-motivated with good computer skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with medical devices, defense, and/or automation products.
  • Electromechanical systems experience, including stepper and servo motors.
  • Design experience including FPGA and VHDL.
