About the position

The Sr Electrical Engineer position focuses on the design, specification, and installation of electrical systems, particularly in motor control and power systems. The role requires a Professional Engineering (PE) license and extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly in industrial settings. The engineer will lead projects, provide technical guidance, and ensure compliance with design standards and specifications while collaborating with other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarity with and utilize department design and drafting standards.
  • Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
  • On-site assistance during startup.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting and engineering personnel.
  • Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.
  • Perform duties as a discipline lead on small to mid-sized projects.
  • Produce estimate level designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
  • Produce detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project.
  • Check calculations made by other engineers to ensure accuracy and conformance to codes and specifications.
  • Consult with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure smooth flow of information necessary for project completion.
  • Review and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for electrical/instrumentation input.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • PE - Professional Engineering License is highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant industry experience in chemical plants or heavy industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations and voltage drop calculations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAD software, either AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
