About the position
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Jacobs in New York, you will be part of a team that specializes in integrated building services design. This role involves managing multiple projects, designing electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project requirements. You will also mentor junior staff and interface with clients and vendors, contributing to innovative solutions in various sectors including renewable energy and mission-critical environments.
Responsibilities
- Design full low and medium voltage electrical systems, including power, emergency power systems, batteries, lighting, fire alarm and signaling systems.
- Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects.
- Design lighting systems including associated control systems.
- Prepare load analysis for each stage of design.
- Prepare detailed project electrical systems drawings.
- Prepare basis of design reports and technical documentation for the project.
- Apply knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines.
- Select and prepare specifications for electrical equipment.
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and project architects across multiple locations.
- Conduct presentations to clients.
- Manage several different assignments simultaneously.
- Provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Mentor junior staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
- Professional Engineer licensure.
- Experience working for a MEP firm focusing on Mission Critical applications.
- Experience designing medium-voltage distribution systems and emergency generation.
- Proficient in Revit and 3D CADD.
- Knowledge of NFPA Standards.
- Working knowledge of other building systems as they relate to electrical systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
