We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Professional Engineer to join our team of multi-disciplinary experts. In this role, you will leverage your design expertise to develop big ideas for various complex water and wastewater utility projects. Your collaboration skills will be essential as you lead team members and coordinate interdisciplinary work for both local and remote projects. The primary focus of this position will be on electrical distribution systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities, which include process treatment structures and buildings. You will take the lead in generating and reviewing electrical equipment drawings, specifications, and approving vendor submittals, ensuring that we maintain the solid relationships our clients have come to expect from Jacobs. Additionally, you will assist proactively in identifying internal and external business opportunities, contributing to our mission of expanding the limits of what is possible today and creating a brighter future for everyone. As a senior electrical engineer, you will be responsible for the design and specification of electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities. Your responsibilities will range from planning studies to final design, leading the preparation of contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects. You will expertly apply your knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines, while managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Quality control and assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market will also be a key part of your role. You will perform power system studies, conduct field visits, and provide services during construction, including submittal reviews and change order approvals. Collaboration with multi-discipline teams across various office locations will be essential, as will mentoring junior staff to foster their development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
  • Lead the preparation of contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ensure quality control and assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash.
  • Conduct field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
  • Provide construction services including submittal reviews and change order approvals.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.
  • Develop basis of design reports and technical memorandums.
  • Mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and ability to be licensed in multiple states.
  • 10 years of experience in professional design of electrical systems associated with water projects.
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power distribution.
  • Solid understanding of applicable industry electrical codes and standard practices, including NEC and NFPA requirements.
  • Hands-on knowledge and design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options.
  • Experience in electrical system testing and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Instrumentation and Control system design experience.
  • Experience with LEED certification or similar sustainability experience.
  • Experience with renewable energy systems like wind and solar.
