About the position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Actalent, you will play a pivotal role in the development and integration of advanced electrical systems, particularly focusing on the Hold Down & Release Mechanism (HDRM) firing electronics. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to lead projects that involve complex electronic systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the development of wire harnesses and ensuring that all requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise will be crucial in managing contractors and collaborating with the mechanisms and flight software teams to ensure seamless integration of systems. In this role, you will prepare comprehensive development, qualification, acceptance, and flight integration plans. You will also oversee the preparation of mechanisms-related motor driver electronics, ensuring that all components meet the necessary specifications and performance standards. As the keeper of requirements, you will ensure that all project milestones are achieved and that the final products are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to design motor driver systems in-house or manage external contractors, depending on the project needs. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while still being an integral part of the team. However, you should expect to travel to Midland, Texas, approximately 25% of the time for project meetings and site evaluations. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our engineering initiatives, and you will be part of a dynamic team that values innovation and excellence in engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Hold Down & Release Mechanism (HDRM) firing electronics
  • Support wire harness development
  • Keeper of requirements
  • Oversee system and/or component contractor(s)
  • Work interfaces with mechanisms/flight software team
  • Prepare development, qualification, acceptance, and flight integration plans
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of mechanisms-related motor driver electronics
  • Oversee motor driver system contractor or design in house if that path is selected
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of EGSE test electronics
  • Assume additional mechanisms or actuator drive electronics efforts as necessary and as requirements evolve

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering, particularly with firing electronics
  • Strong knowledge of wire harness development
  • Experience overseeing contractors and managing project requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with mechanisms and actuator drive electronics
  • Familiarity with flight software integration
  • Project management experience
