About the position

At Bayer, we're visionaries, driven to solve the world's toughest challenges and striving for a world where 'Health for all Hunger for none' is no longer a dream, but a real possibility. We're doing it with energy, curiosity, and sheer dedication, always learning from unique perspectives of those around us, expanding our thinking, growing our capabilities, and redefining ‘impossible'. As Bayer Crop Science's digital farming arm, we advance regenerative agriculture and technology breakthroughs using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like Climate FieldView and our ForGround regenerative agriculture platform, our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in agriculture. Digital Farming is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our Connected Devices research and development team. We are looking for a candidate with a background in electronic design and with prior experience shipping a consumer electronics device to help us launch the next generation of our products onto farms around the world. The role involves the design and testing of electronics boards that include power circuits and protection, multiple I/O channels to support sensor inputs or industry communications like RS233, CAN, USB, etc., microcontrollers, memory, RF modules (BT, WiFi, Cellular), antennas, and shielding. Additionally, the position requires manufacturing support, at both prototype and series industrialization, which includes understanding how to test along the production line and developing tests that support the successful manufacturing of the devices, as well as optimizing processes or said tests. The successful candidate will work together with both Mechanical and Embedded Firmware teams on the design of complete products, supporting changes associated with performance, function, and form factor. Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining associated design documentation and supporting regulatory work associated with the testing and release of devices, including CE work, EMC testing related to FCC, CE, and other regional regulatory bodies, carrier certifications, and specifications sheets and declarations for the regulatory bodies. Our department creates new consumer-facing agricultural IoT products, and we are fully responsible for design, prototyping, testing, regulatory certification, and manufacturing. As a member of our team, you will have the ability to take part in every aspect of the product's lifecycle, creating real products that improve outcomes for farmers around the world. This job is not about designing anonymous widgets; it is an opportunity to make a substantial contribution to our development effort and to make a meaningful impact in people's lives while doing work that you love. Our team has a diverse collection of skills, and a successful candidate will help complement and extend our abilities.
