About the position

Our client, one of the world's leading defense contractors, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for their Combat Mission Systems business. The Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the development, testing, fabrication, and fielding of highly complex military equipment. This position involves researching, planning, designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic and electrical systems and components. The engineer will utilize advanced modeling and analysis tools to create product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration and verification procedures. Additionally, the role requires evaluating vendor capabilities, technologies, and services to ensure they can deliver the required products or services. The qualified candidate will work under the general direction of a project engineering lead to perform electrical system design on a variety of military systems, which may include combat vehicles, gun systems, and guided munitions. The Electrical Engineer will provide detailed engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems for military product applications. This position demands a professional level of engineering knowledge to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic and electrical systems and components.
  • Utilize advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, and technical data packages.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities, technologies, and services to ensure they can deliver required products or services.
  • Perform electrical system design on a variety of military systems, including combat vehicles, gun systems, and guided munitions.
  • Provide detailed engineering analysis of components, subsystems, and systems for military product applications.

Requirements

  • Typically requires 3+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field, or 2+ years with a Master's degree.
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as drawings, reports, and technical analysis.
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge.
  • Experience in creating, reading, and comprehending schematics and interconnect drawings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, PSpice, LabVIEW.
  • Familiarity with computer programming languages, e.g., C, C#, LabWindows/CVI.
  • Working knowledge of OrCAD and Visio, circuit board schematic and layout tools.
  • Familiarity with design for components in a high EMI environment.
  • Systems Engineering and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Knowledge of rechargeable batteries and battery management systems.
  • Experience with engineering design of wiring harnesses and cable assemblies for military systems.
  • Experience with integrating Field Programmable Gate Arrays and development of electronic control logic.
  • Experience with developing and integrating power generation, conversion, and storage solutions.
  • Experience in the development and integration of ammunition handling/loading systems including autoloaders and large caliber rammer systems.
