About the position

The Sr. Electrical Engineer will provide Infrastructure Engineering Support, focusing on the design and implementation of low voltage power distribution systems. This role involves collaboration with various engineering disciplines, adherence to project documentation policies, and the preparation of engineering computations and specifications. The position is hybrid, requiring two days in the office and three days remote, and is initially a six-month contract with the possibility of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Design low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Prepare single line diagrams and wiring diagrams under supervision.
  • Coordinate design with other disciplines such as civil, architectural, mechanical, and structural.
  • Adhere to Clients policy for accurate project documentation.
  • Complete assignments such as drawings, specifications, and materials for procurement and construction.
  • Prepare standard engineering computations, material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Prepare detailed requisitions for low voltage equipment and materials.
  • Size conduit, conductors, and overcurrent protection devices per the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Review supplier drawing submittals and assist in technical bid analyses.
  • Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters and lower-level Engineers.
  • Perform field surveys and collect required data as per project needs.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college.
  • 8+ years of electrical design experience in low voltage power distribution systems, data center design, power quality analysis, lighting systems, grounding, lightning protection, and Uninterruptible Power Sources (UPS).
  • Ability to pass a government background check.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within budgeted hours and schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in engineering consulting with federal agencies.
  • Working knowledge of FAA standards and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction practices and safe work procedures.
  • Ability to solve problems with persons inside and outside an organization.
  • Previous experience with lightning and grounding protection.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam.
  • Proficiency in SKM and ability to perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analyses.
