About the position

Wavestream sets the standard in the design and manufacture of solid-state transceivers for satellite communication networks. We are enabling communication access to all people through our customers who integrate their products in a variety of applications. From high-speed in-flight connectivity, ground stations for LEO constellations, and supporting soldiers and first responders in remote areas - our customers expect high reliability solutions.

Responsibilities

• Rapid design, test and qualification of power subsystem and digital control hardware
• Architect and design of high reliability power electronics for aerospace customers
• Partner with multidisciplinary team to verify new products
• Support full life cycle development of new hardware from concept to production
• Ensures that the highest quality standards are being followed throughout the design cycle
• Ensure a healthy and safe environment is maintained
• Follow RTCA/DO-254 process documentation and standard operating procedures
• Hold and attend various meetings to lead and provide effective communication
• Experience designing for robust EMC requirements (MIL-STD-461, DO-160, UL, CE)
• Knowledge of Power Supply Topologies (Buck/Boost/Cuk/Flyback/Half-Bridge/Full-Bridge)
• Prior experience with RF systems is preferred

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing high reliability electronics from functional requirements
• Component level understanding of power converter topologies
• Ability to make recommendations based on architectural trade offs
• Knowledge of the design of customer transformers and magnetics
• Experience working with PCB designers to develop robust board requirements
• Design Rules, Layer Stack Up, Trace Widths, Clearances
• Demonstrated knowledge of mixed-signal circuit design
• Processors, I2C, SPI, operational amplifiers, analog to digital and digital to analog converters
• Must be able to work in a lab environment and troubleshoot problems using equipment
• Strong understanding of programming languages is preferred (Python, C/C++)
• Familiar with Altium Designer for Schematic and Layout Capture
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required
