The Sr. Electrical Engineer will focus on the development and testing of new subsystems to be used in large battery backup products deployed with Vertiv uninterruptible power supplies. This role is critical in ensuring that the subsystems, which include batteries and electronic subassemblies, meet the necessary performance, cost, and schedule targets. The engineer will collaborate closely with various teams, including research and development, product management, program management, and manufacturing engineering, to deliver effective solutions. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and the ability to apply them in a practical setting. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for developing and testing electrical designs for new battery management systems. This includes researching and creating test plans for new UPS backup battery types, as well as helping to create specifications for new circuit boards related to battery management systems. The engineer will also assist with schematic development and interact with outside vendors and suppliers to clarify specifications and obtain quotes for necessary equipment. A thorough understanding of applicable national and international standards is essential to ensure that all designs comply with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will assist in sustaining engineering activities, which may involve evaluating substitute components and providing engineering support for test activities undertaken by other Vertiv product groups. The role may also require occasional engineering support for other activities at Vertiv, making versatility and teamwork essential traits for success in this position.
