About the position

Red Lion Controls, an HMS Group Member, is seeking an exceptional Hardware (Electrical) Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative team. This position is crucial as we embark on a period of significant change and growth, aimed at empowering industrial organizations worldwide to unlock the value of data. The Hardware Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, development, validation, documentation, productization, and sustainment of industrial embedded systems within Red Lion's product segments, which include Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems, protocol translators, network devices, and Input/Output (I/O) controllers. The successful candidate will be a key design contributor to our next generation of industrial automation products, helping companies access their data through various platforms to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and boost productivity. This role involves working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and produce high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed expectations. The Hardware Engineer will also collaborate with manufacturing teams to transition designs from prototype to production, ensuring that all hardware designs meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability. In addition, the role requires participation in technical reviews and assisting other engineers in mitigating various design issues. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team member to creatively and cooperatively solve problems and complete tasks are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Involved with the hardware design of embedded industrial systems and provide sustainment support for product sustenance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in the design, layout, and testing of PCBs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Support material lifecycle management, change management, and component qualifications.
  • Work in collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams to understand the needs of the customer to produce high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to transition designs from prototype to production.
  • Closely collaborate with software engineering, firmware, QA, and product management.
  • Participate in technical reviews and assist other engineers to mitigate various design issues.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, electronics related field, and/or equivalent experience.
  • ~5-7+ years hands-on hardware design experience including proficiency with technologies related to embedded ARM-based microprocessor and graphics controller systems, AC and DC power circuits, analog and digital I/O design, touchscreen displays, and network interfaces.
  • Schematic and PCB design experience using Altium design software and Orcad tools.
  • Experience with hardware engineering test tools such as DSOs, DMM, JTAG debuggers, etc.
  • Design for Manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC and industrial regulatory and compliance certifications.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
