About the position

The Sr. Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer IV at Blue Origin will focus on the design and development of spacecraft electrical systems, particularly for high and medium power systems. This role is crucial for the Human Landing System (HLS) program, contributing to the Lunar Transportation system aimed at returning humans to the Moon. The engineer will work collaboratively with various engineering disciplines to ensure the delivery of safe and operational flight hardware, while also engaging in risk analysis and technology development initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and own high and low voltage, avionic designs that interact with electrical power consumers.
  • Own the rugged electronic hardware assemblies across the entire product life cycle, from concept and requirements definition to release to production.
  • Support power regulation and distribution architecture trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, and specification.
  • Conduct design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Participate in program level technology development, mission assurance, and avionics development process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical power systems design and development.
  • Experience with high and low voltage distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and worst-case circuit analyses.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with firmware, software, systems, and mechanical engineers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with NASA projects or similar aerospace programs.
  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations and compliance.
  • Familiarity with design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx) principles.
