About the position

The Senior Electrical Protection and Control Engineer at Lone Star Transmission will play a crucial role in supporting the Field Operations team in Texas. This position involves ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Lone Star system, managing maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with various reliability standards. The engineer will work on protective relaying systems, substation automation, and integration, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the transmission network.

Responsibilities

• Work with operations and engineering to achieve safe and reliable operation of the Lone Star system.
• Manage, direct, track and report on diverse maintenance activities and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with NERC (PRC, CIP), TRE and ERCOT reliability standards, guidelines, and protocols for substation equipment.
• Execute multi-year reliability plans for assigned protection and control equipment.
• Perform replacement/upgrade/troubleshooting of protective relaying systems and substation control systems.
• Verify protective relay logic through function testing of the relaying systems.
• Perform root cause evaluation of system failures and provide countermeasures and recommendations.
• Respond to unplanned transmission system events and perform initial assessments and troubleshooting.
• Maintain applicable certifications to perform high voltage switching activities.
• Perform engineering review, commissioning and testing plans for projects and ensure compliance with construction standards.
• Assist with project integration, commissioning and testing for substation construction projects.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering or related field.
