About the position

The SR Eligibility Specialist at the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola County is responsible for determining eligibility and providing enrollment services for families seeking child care assistance through the School Readiness Program. This role involves utilizing the Enhanced Field System database to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and to support families in accessing necessary resources and services.

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility and enrollment services for families seeking child care assistance through the School Readiness Program.
  • Collect, verify, evaluate, and track documentation to determine initial and continuing SR eligibility.
  • Provide referrals for child care options and programs for families with young children.
  • Issue termination of services using defined criteria.
  • Enroll eligible participants in appropriate programs for school readiness childcare assistance.
  • Communicate program eligibility requirements, rights, and responsibilities to participants.
  • Assess individual/family needs and manage family case notes, serving as an advocate for community referrals.
  • Provide consultation and follow-up for designated families and childcare providers.
  • Communicate with child care providers regarding enrollment, attendance, and eligibility.
  • Work cooperatively with referring agencies to ensure services are provided to families.
  • Maintain knowledge of state eligibility requirements and revisions to procedures.
  • Support early care and learning providers with resources to improve program quality.
  • Report any health and safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Participate in community outreach activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; Associate's degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience; or HS Diploma/equivalency and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Two years' experience in early learning programs and services, including Coalition Services activities.
  • Knowledge of Florida's early learning system, including rules and regulations in child care.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • High quality client service interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of computer software applications including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective records and management practices.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and computation skills.

Nice-to-haves
