About the position

The Sr. ER Consultant plays a crucial role in mitigating risks for the organization while enhancing the employee experience. This position involves counseling and guiding people leaders through complex employee issues, ensuring that both organizational policies and employee concerns are addressed fairly and equitably. The consultant will be responsible for various areas including conducting investigations, implementing corrective actions, and providing coaching and counseling to management. Additionally, the role encompasses managing leaves of absence and accommodations, as well as supporting reductions in force, responding to EEOC inquiries, and interpreting company policies. Core competencies for this position include strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to listen effectively, and proficiency in conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation. The consultant will be expected to identify and mitigate risks by managing employee relations issues and ensuring compliance with organizational policies, practices, and the overarching mission, vision, and values of Molina Healthcare. The Sr. ER Consultant will also utilize exceptional documentation skills to prepare necessary reports and communications, ensuring that all materials are suitable for discoverability. They will assess risks and resolve conflicts through mediation, while also tracking case details to identify trends and recurring issues. Promoting a positive work environment is essential, and the consultant will leverage Employee Engagement Survey results to develop solutions that enhance the employee experience. In addition to addressing employee issues, the consultant will assist management in preparing for challenging conversations, providing strategic insights into employee relations issues, and conducting trend analyses. They will mentor and lead other Employee Relations Consultants, offering expertise and guidance on various employee relations matters. The consultant will also take the lead on complex projects and initiatives, collaborating with HR Business Partners, Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Mitigate risk for the organization by managing employee relations issues and ensuring adherence to policies, practices, and Molina's mission, vision, and values.
  • Utilize exceptional written communication skills to prepare appropriate documentation for each matter with discoverability in mind.
  • Assess risk and resolve conflict through mediation.
  • Track appropriate level of detail by case to ensure ability to identify trends through reporting and address recurring risk.
  • Promote a positive work environment and employee experience by yielding fair and equitable solutions for employees.
  • Conduct investigations into alleged misconduct and workplace incivility, applying the appropriate amount of time and diligence based on the nature of the case and facts presented.
  • Utilize Employee Engagement Survey results to create solutions and a better employee experience within client groups.
  • Assist management in addressing employee issues, including corrective action, employee coaching, leaves of absence, accommodations, and HR policy adherence.
  • Assist management in preparing for difficult employee conversations, including creating talking points.
  • Provide an overall strategic view of the employee relations issues facing management and conduct trend analysis and create training to get in front of issues.
  • Provide efficient, consistent, and prompt consultative services, thereby creating capacity for people leaders.
  • Mentor and lead Employee Relations Consultants by providing expertise and guidance on employee relations issues.
  • Take the lead on complex employee relations projects or initiatives, partnering with HRBPs, Legal, Compliance, and other key stakeholders as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years in Employee Relations / Human Resources, and/or Employment Law.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or J.D.
