About the position

The Senior Employee Relations Partner at Quest Diagnostics plays a crucial role in enhancing employee relations across multiple sites and lines of business. This position focuses on resolving complex employee issues, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and fostering a positive work environment. The partner also oversees employee engagement and retention initiatives, mentors Employee Relations Partners, and collaborates with various HR and business leaders to implement effective people solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and managers to resolve complex work-related issues through advice and recommendations.
  • Deliver high-quality decisions and counsel to managers and employees, identifying trends and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Administer the company's coaching and disciplinary action process, including performance improvement plans.
  • Support management in preparing documentation for disciplinary actions and ensure legal compliance.
  • Participate in disciplinary or termination proceedings as needed.
  • Conduct in-depth internal investigations of allegations regarding performance, misconduct, or policy violations.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employment law compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and recommend policy updates.
  • Provide guidance on the development of policies and tools for the Employee Relations Center of Excellence.
  • Monitor retention and turnover metrics to support employee relations processes.
  • Leverage employee engagement tools to surface and address issues timely.
  • Mentor and provide direction to Employee Relations Consultants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in HR Generalist or Employee Relations Specialist roles.
  • Prefer experience with Labor Unions and collective bargaining agreements (CBA).
  • Prefer 2 years of leadership experience through mentorship or project management.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations is essential.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as HRIS and Case Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within HR or Employee Relations.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR systems and reporting tools.
