About the position

The Senior Employee Relations Partner plays a crucial role in the Employee Relations Center of Excellence at Quest Diagnostics. This position is responsible for equipping managers with the necessary tools to address employee relations issues, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation. The role involves overseeing employee engagement and retention initiatives, mentoring Employee Relations Partners, and collaborating with various HR and business leaders to enhance employee relations practices across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and managers to resolve complex work-related issues through advice and recommendations.
  • Deliver high-quality decisions and counsel to managers and employees, identifying trends and recommending appropriate actions.
  • Administer the coaching and disciplinary action process, including performance improvement plans.
  • Support management in preparing documentation for disciplinary actions and ensure legal compliance.
  • Participate in disciplinary or termination proceedings as needed.
  • Conduct in-depth internal investigations of allegations regarding performance, misconduct, or policy violations.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employment law compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and recommend policy updates.
  • Provide guidance on the development of policies and tools for the Employee Relations Center of Excellence.
  • Monitor retention and turnover metrics to support employee relations processes.
  • Leverage employee engagement tools to surface and address issues timely.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Employee Relations Consultants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in HR Generalist or Employee Relations Specialist roles.
  • Prefer experience with Labor Unions and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Prefer 2 years of leadership experience through mentorship or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations is essential.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as HRIS and Case Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a comparable organization with a focus on employee relations.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR reporting and analytics.
