About the position

The Senior Employee Relations Partner at Quest Diagnostics plays a crucial role in enhancing employee relations across multiple sites and lines of business. This position focuses on resolving complex employee issues, ensuring compliance with employment legislation, and fostering a positive work environment. The partner also oversees employee engagement and retention initiatives, mentors Employee Relations Partners, and collaborates with various HR and management teams to implement effective people solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and managers to resolve complex, non-routine work-related issues.
  • Deliver high-quality decisions and counsel to managers and employees.
  • Administer the company's coaching and disciplinary action process.
  • Support management in preparing disciplinary action documentation and performance improvement plans.
  • Participate in disciplinary or termination proceedings as needed.
  • Conduct in-depth internal investigations of allegations regarding performance or misconduct.
  • Advise HR Service Center teams on routine allegations that require investigation.
  • Serve as a primary contact for employment law compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and recommend policy updates.
  • Provide guidance on the development of Employee Relations policies and processes.
  • Monitor and report on retention and turnover metrics.
  • Leverage employee engagement tools to surface and address issues timely.
  • Provide mentorship and training to Employee Relations Consultants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in HR Generalist or Employee Relations Specialist roles.
  • Prefer Labor Union experience, including collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  • Prefer 2 years of leadership experience through mentorship or supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations is essential.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as HRIS and Case Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements (CBA).
  • Leadership experience in a consultative capacity.
