About the position

The Senior Employee Relations Specialist at Team Car Care, operating under the Jiffy Lube brand, plays a pivotal role in shaping and administering the employee relations (ER) program across the organization. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, this position is responsible for leading the development and execution of ER initiatives that align with the company's mission to provide exceptional car care services. The Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and government agencies regarding all ER matters, ensuring that the company adheres to legal and ethical standards in its employee relations practices. In this role, the Senior Employee Relations Specialist will independently manage complex investigations related to employee relations, including issues of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. This involves conducting thorough investigations, analyzing data to identify trends, and making informed recommendations for corrective actions. The Specialist will also be responsible for creating and delivering training materials to both field and corporate leaders, ensuring that all training reflects current laws and company policies. The position requires a high level of confidentiality and integrity, as the Specialist will handle sensitive information and make critical decisions that affect employee status and organizational compliance. The role also involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including store management and senior corporate leadership, to foster a culture of trust and respect within the organization. The Senior Employee Relations Specialist will utilize their expertise in labor law and HR policies to guide the company in maintaining a fair and equitable workplace for all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead and direct complex employee relations inquiries through the full investigations process from case receipt to closure.
  • Plan, conduct, organize, and lead complex investigations, presenting conclusions and making recommendations for post-investigation actions.
  • Write timely and thorough investigation reports for submission to senior HR leadership and update case reports with investigation details.
  • Capture information in the case management system and provide analytic data to senior HR leadership for decision-making.
  • Analyze data to proactively identify trends and patterns and report findings appropriately.
  • Create and distribute analytical reports to Employee Relations stakeholders.
  • Create and present employee relations training material to field and corporate leaders, ensuring materials are updated to reflect changes in law or company policies.
  • Provide coaching and recommendations on issues affecting employment status, affirmative action, and diversity.
  • Proactively identify issues and concerns, creating and implementing corrective plans of action.
  • Provide balanced insights and recommendations in work-related employee conflicts.
  • Work with Legal Counsel to obtain and present information for litigated claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and government reporting regulations related to employment.
  • Prepare documents and represent the company at wage claim hearings.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Human Resources or equivalent work experience in Human Resources as an HR Manager or HRBP.
  • Five years of experience in a position of responsibility within Employee Relations, including experience independently driving complex ER investigations in a fast-paced, multi-location retail environment.
  • Subject-matter-expert knowledge in labor law interpretation and compliance matters, including federal and state laws related to HR policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proven ability to independently manage a large case load of complex investigations with minimal direction.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity while executing responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to establish trust and credibility with team members at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • HRIS experience.
