About the position

The Sr. Engineer - Controls is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of control strategies and sub-system requirements for advanced vehicle control systems. This role involves collaboration with various engineering groups to ensure the effective design and verification of control systems for both on-road and off-road applications, including electric and hybrid vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks under supervision.
  • Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
  • Support senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, computation methods, and reporting.
  • Manage smaller projects or sub-systems of limited complexity.
  • Collaborate with software engineering and other internal engineering groups or business support disciplines.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians on common projects.
  • Conduct vehicle sub-system controls research, development, verification, validation, testing, and production implementation.
  • Develop requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones) according to project needs.
  • Create control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools or hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
  • Work with internal and external project teams on advanced control development and component development efforts.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.
  • Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle background with vehicle control system experience.
  • Experience with automotive or heavy-duty vehicle CAN bus and architecture.
  • Familiarity with Mathworks, dSPACE or Vector tools and Autosar.
  • Embedded software development experience using C/C++/C# or Python is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in mechanical or electrical Engineering and one (1) or more years of related experience.
