About the position

The Sr. Engineer Data Visualization at The Hershey Company plays a pivotal role in the Enterprise Data organization, which is dedicated to delivering high-quality, well-governed data for analytics and decision-making across the enterprise. This position is integral to an agile execution team, collaborating closely with business partners, data scientists, technical engineers, data architects, and project managers to design, develop, and enhance data visualization, reporting, and analytical solutions. The engineer will ensure that all visualization standards align with company best practices and will be responsible for delivering rapid and impactful benefits to the organization. In this role, the Sr. Data Visualization Engineer will act as a trusted advisor to Hershey's business partners, ensuring that data solutions meet their expectations and requirements. The position involves working with a diverse team to deliver outcomes that align with the strategic goals of the business partners. Reporting directly to the Sr. Manager of Data Visualization, the engineer will ensure consistency and compliance of deliverables with established frameworks and governance processes. Key responsibilities include developing and delivering high-quality data visualization solutions, maintaining and optimizing existing solutions, and collaborating with IT and business partners to innovate and drive the adoption of data visualization capabilities. The engineer will also advocate for future data visualization solutions identified by Enterprise Data leadership, including the use of cloud-based intelligent systems to manage and visualize diverse data assets. This role requires a strong understanding of data visualization principles, agile methodologies, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality data visualization, reporting and analytical solutions adhering to best practices, privacy, and governance principles.
• Enhance the performance, quality, and functionality of existing data visualization solutions.
• Collaborate with IT and business partners to define, manage, and deliver innovative Data Visualization solutions.
• Evangelize future Data Visualization solutions identified by Enterprise Data leadership.
• Create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes for Enterprise initiatives in collaboration with the agile execution team.
• Consult with business and project teams on visualization impacts on data requirements.
• Develop complex analytical solutions while maintaining output performance.
• Ensure reporting and analytical platforms meet Service Level Agreements.
• Maintain performance and optimization of certified reports and analytical solutions.
• Model standards and best practices established by Enterprise Data leadership.
• Work with data engineers to understand data solutions and availability.
• Lead operational and infrastructure activities post go-live.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• 3+ years of experience with Alteryx or similar data wrangling tools for data modeling and mining.
• 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining reporting ecosystems ensuring data quality.
• 3+ years of experience building analytical models.
• 3+ years of experience working with business owners to maintain and optimize key performance indicators.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
