About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer at Spire Inc. is responsible for enhancing and supporting critical applications that drive the company's business processes. This role involves leading migration standards, overseeing release management, and ensuring application health and performance. The engineer will collaborate closely with development teams and quality assurance to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in application delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and support critical applications in the Enterprise landscape, including Oracle EBS, Customer Care & Billing, Maximo, Powerplan, Hyperion, Endur, and Click.
  • Lead and oversee migration standards within the shared services group, partnering with Architects to execute on vision.
  • Lead the team in release management and application migrations within a specialized area.
  • Oversee and influence built-in quality, partnering with Quality Assurance regarding unit/developer testing.
  • Monitor performance issues, identifying and executing long-term solutions.
  • Respond to triage production issues related to integrations or scheduling operations, following Service Level Agreements.
  • Participate fully in the development team, engaging in all ceremonies and planning with a focus on clear acceptance criteria.
  • Accept work into the team backlog and own the commitment related to what has been laid out to be completed each PI.
  • Accountable for the development and updating of technical documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively within the specific team and across agile teams to ensure alignment in dependencies and impacts.
  • Optimize, enhance, and support cybersecurity protocols related to the shared service application suite.
  • Accountable for application health and version control across all non-prod environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Technical Engineering preferred.
  • 7+ years of Weblogic and/or Websphere experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a leadership role in technology delivery and business analysis.
  • Understanding of enterprise applications and end-to-end processes in specialized application support streams.
  • Experience with multi-tier JEE environments.
  • Strong knowledge in Oracle fundamentals and experience in Oracle RAC.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Excellent understanding of the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) approach.
  • Proficiency in SQL, SQL-Plus, and CRON coding knowledge.
  • In-depth understanding of Oracle database structures, recovery procedures, and product installation.
  • Strong scripting experience (JavaScript, XML, Python, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex issues during design and testing phases.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAFe certification(s) a plus.
  • Experience developing in an agile environment.
